Chris Johnson
Attorney & Founding Partner
Chris practices in the areas of real estate litigation, business litigation and family law. He is qualified by the Minnesota Supreme Court as a mediator, arbitrator and neutral in civil cases.
Chris currently serves as the Mayor of Forest Lake. He formerly served on the Board of Directors of the Forest Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, is a former president of the 19th District of the Minnesota State Bar Association, a former president of the Forest Lake Rotary Club, a former chair of the Forest Lake Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and has volunteered as a coach of the Forest Lake High School Mock Trial Team. Chris is a current member of the Minnesota State Bar Association.
Outside of his law practice, Chris enjoys hunting, fishing, golfing, and even an occasional pay per view Ultimate Fighting bout. He enjoys trips to his in-laws’ and his parents’ cabins, and he loves to spend time with his wife, two daughters and son.
Education
Chris received his Juris Doctor degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 1999. He graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1993 with a major in financial economics. He graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1989.

Chris has been honored by his peers as a Rising Star in the legal community for a number of years. He has appeared in Mpls/St. Paul Magazine, Law & Politics and Twin Cities Business Monthly for this honor.
Erin Turner
Attorney & Founding Partner
Erin has dedicated most of her 12-year career to family law as an attorney and advocate, including surrounding roles as a mediator, parenting time expeditor and parenting consultant.
For fun, Erin hangs out with her wonderful husband and kids, loves to cook and page through cookbooks when she’s not creating her next culinary masterpiece, and gets her Zen on with yoga, biking, and road trips to the family cabin. She’s also addicted to the Food Network show “Chopped,” and loves classic sit-coms, proof-positive with the quote: “Mary Tyler Moore is the best!”
Education
Erin received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Minnesota Law School, cum laude, in 2000. She graduated from Gustavus Adolphus College, magna cum laude, in 1997 with a major in English and a minor in Women's Studies. She graduated from Forest Lake High School in 1993.

She proudly serves as the Vice President of the Forest Lake Area School Board, the Chair of the Board of Directors and the Chair of the Resource Development Committee of the Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau ("LAYSB").
Dave Snyder
Attorney & Partner
David represents numerous municipalities, businesses and individuals in land use, construction and general commercial and litigation matters, in State and Federal District Court in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
In his spare time, Dave enjoys spending time with his family, running, vintage and performance motorcycles and cars, motorcycle sport touring, upland bird hunting and literature, particularly European history and economics.
Education
David K. Snyder is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and the Washington University School of Law.
Honors & Community
Dave is deeply involved in community relationships throughout Washington county as a volunteer and long-standing advisor. He serves as an advisory board member to Courage Center St. Croix, has been recognized for his service to veterans in the Yellow Ribbon Network , has served as a board member to the family violence network and as president of the 19th district bar association. Dave has also provided assistance to economically disadvantaged youth programs.
Karolina Hoerl
Attorney
Since her start in law, Karolina has dedicated her smarts to the practice of family law and has honed in on domestic violence cases. She’s also experienced in landlord/tenant law, bankruptcy and criminal defense.
Outside of her law practice, Karolina loves spending time with her husband and new baby boy. She also enjoys cooking, kickboxing, yoga, downhill skiing, biking, travel, photography and reading. Karolina speaks fluent Polish, which she’s not afraid to flaunt at the annual Minnesota Polish Festival.

Karolina received her Juris Doctor degree from William Mitchell College of Law in 2008. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2005 with a major in Psychology.
Honors & Community
Karolina serves as a member of the Forest Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Young Leaders Group and the Woodbury Chamber of Commerce. She also serves as a Volunteer Attorney for the Tubman Family Alliance (Chrysalis) Safety Project -- providing free legal services for victims of domestic abuse.
Melissa Howell
Paralegal
Melissa assists in drafting legal documents, conducting discovery, scheduling hearings, communicating with clients, and assisting with case management and trial preparation.
During her spare time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, which includes her husband and two sons. She enjoys canoeing, camping, going for walks and bike rides, and cheering on her her son at all little league sporting events.
Education
Melissa brings over 12 years of law experience to her position as a legal assistant. She’s currently enrolled at Minneapolis Business College; Melissa graduated from Stillwater Area High School in 1998.
Krystal Lilyquist
Paralegal
Krystal uses her paralegal background to manage the mediation, parenting consulting and parenting time expediting areas. She also professionally drafts our legal documents, initiates the discovery process, helps with case management and is a key point person in our client communications.
Outside of work Krystal enjoys beach volleyball, is an avid Twins fan, and loves walking her dog, doing yoga, fishing and watching movies.
Education
Krystal received her Bachelor in Paralegal Studies degree from National American University in 2008 with honors. She graduated from Centennial High School in 2002 with honors.
Honors & Community
Krystal assists with our annual Johnson / Turner Calorie Burner 5K and supports the local Youth Service Bureau’s “Taste” event, which raises money and features great cuisine from local restaurants. She also helps with the organization's “Black Tie to Blue Jeans Night” — another popular fund raiser.
Karla Lien
Paralegal
Karla assists in all aspects of the firm's cases, including drafting legal documents, conducting discovery and research, scheduling hearings, communicating with clients, and assisting with case management and trial preparation. She is also responsible for managing the daily activities of the office.
Outside of work, Karla enjoys reading, traveling, watching reality TV, dining out, going for walks and bike rides, going up north to the cabin, attending concerts, shows and live theatre, and spending time with her husband, son and daughter.

Karla received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Gustavus Adolphus College in 1997 with a double-major in Psychology and Sociology and a minor in Women’s Studies. She earned her Paralegal Certificate from the Minnesota Paralegal Institute in 2003. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1993.

Karla is a big part of the Johnson / Turner Calorie Burner 5K, which is sure to be highlighted on ESPN soon. She supports our local Youth Service Bureau that hosts the “Taste,” which raises money and showcases local restaurants, and the “Black Tie to Blue Jeans Night,” another casually great cause.
Sarah Sicheneder

Sarah focuses her practice in the areas of family law, estate planning and administration, wills and trusts, criminal defense and prosecution, juvenile delinquency, and probate.
Sarah likes to sew, garden, read, run, and practice yoga in her free time. She also enjoys attending concerts and theater productions, visiting museums, taking her dog for walks, and tending to her flock of urban chickens.

Sarah graduated from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois in 2005, earning a Juris Doctorate and a specialty certificate in Arts and Museum Law. In 1999, Sarah graduated cum laude from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, majoring in Political Science and Russian Studies. Sarah is also a 1995 Forest Lake High School graduate.
Honors & Community
Sarah is an active volunteer at Tubman Family Alliance in their Legal Assistance for Women (LAW) program and provides pro bono legal assistance through the Volunteer Lawyers Network. She also serves on the board of the 3437 Community Garden.
Steven Sicheneder

For the past twenty years, Steve has limited his practice primarily to the area of family law.
Outside of his law practice, Steve enjoys being active in the outdoors – hiking, camping, and kayaking, as well as reading and spending time with his wife, dogs and children.
Education
Steve earned his Juris Doctor degree from Hamline University School of Law, cum laude. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Minnesota Morris in 1970 with a major in political science. Steve graduated from Waconia High School in 1966. Following graduation from college, Steve served in the United States Army, and spent thirteen months with the 287th Military Police in West Berlin, Germany. Steve has been honored by Law & Politics as a Super Lawyer in the legal community. He is AV® Rated by the prestigious LexisNexis Martindale Hubbell Law Directory. Steve is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Minneapolis Legal Aid Society and on the Board of Advisors for East Central Legal Services. Steve continues to provide pro bono legal representation through Central Minnesota Legal Services’ Volunteer Attorney Program.
Josh Brekken
Attorney
Josh dedicates his practice to business litigation, municipal law, employment law and family law.
Outside of work, you may find Josh literally outside - on a tennis court, a golf course, a ski slope, or a hiking trail. He's also an avid Twins and Vikings fan.

Josh received his Juris Doctor degree from Hamline University School of Law in 2012, summa cum laude. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2008, with a major in English Literature.
Honors & Community
Josh recently joined the Fairview Lakes Friends Make a Difference Mentoring Program, which is a program designed for adults to mentor young kids. During law school, Josh was awarded the "Excellence in Employment Law Award."
Loretta Larson
Receptionist
Loretta is likely the first person you'll talk to when you call the firm. She schedules appointments, greets incoming clients, assists our attorneys and paralegals with their day to day work, and keeps the place running smoothly.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, friends and her dog and two cats. She loves cooking, walking, traveling, reading, gardening, animals, and watching her Koi fish swim in the pond. When it's nice out, watch out - you may catch her zipping through town with the top down in her Corvette.
One of her sons and her husband's son serve our country with the Army and Navy Special Forces. She's a proud grandmother to two.
