Finding a way to resolve your disputes among yourselves is almost always better than placing the decision in the hands of a judge or jury. The court system is in place to help parties settle disputes in a civil manner when they cannot otherwise do so themselves. So why not first take a shot at resolving your disputes outside the court system? Settlements outside of court typically occur faster, are less expensive and are more satisfying to the parties.
As the State of Minnesota is looking to further cut its budget, the court system will continue to be affected by those cost-cutting measures. This means the court system will continue to be stretched thinner and thinner. Cases will take longer to get to trial, and fewer court staff will be available to administer the cases. These are all the more reasons to use an alternative means to civilly resolve your disputes outside of the court system.
